Cadmium     Passivate     Chromate     Chromate on Aluminum Chromate conversion coatings are used on aluminum to retard and prevent corrosion as a base for paint as a protective surface coating having lower electrical contact resistance than anodizing coatings. These chromated parts may also be dyed for identification purposes. The coatings produced by this method will generally provide protection in proportion to film thickness. They provide a high degree of protection against marine and humid environments.
